I’ve never made a review for a game on Steam before, but this breaks that trend. Out of some of the possible results I was assuming for myself before starting, this was definitely what I would consider to be the most accurate to my life experiences. I tried this out after seeing Markiplier play this and was surprised in my own experience with it.

It suggested Fear of oneself and warning of your potential, reminding you to not keep yourself locked in, giving into your bloodlust or something of a similar nature. In this it praises me, almost feeding into an ego yet in the other it never suggested anything of the sort. This answer seems so vastly different then the one I receive from horrorscope, it confuses me. Worth it I think for the experience honestly. This is however one of those things I have a hard time quantifying much less how I’d try to get someone else to go for but let me try it like this: “more fun than quizzes on BuzzFeed”, genuinely, even if its a one and done. I had “fun” with it too while it lasted, I mean for what this is given there’s no “traditional” gameplay as it were.

This is, interesting, the one word I can say for it and be certain of. I wasn’t waiting for anything in particular and I had a nice experience. Answering the questions is entertaining, without knowing what comes next even if you’re waiting for something extreme like a jump-scare or not. The things that were told to me in the end are really really spot on, so I’m impressed by that. To be honest I didn’t find the game scary in general, I don’t think they’re going for that route entirely, it was more like a self reflection exercise with “someone” else there and you don’t know what or who that someone else is, in that sense it’s well accomplished. Even though the “I might be behind you” thing might not be new or scary at all I didn’t find it so bad either. It’s a very interesting, short (but not in a bad way) and well put together game. Some of the questions were really fun, some quite serious, some make you want to peek around the room just to make sure you are alone. This revealed my personality quite well, showing both my strengths and weaknesses these are things I already knew, but there was a suggestion to a problem I have that was actually pretty clever and I had not considered. My only suggestion to the devs would be a way to look at previous messages. The answer I got was both scarily accurate and quite emotionally fulfilling, although I skipped a couple of lines by accident. I answered honestly, even when it reflected badly on me, and I think that’s the key here, like the mysterious test giver warns. Certainly it is a novel use of an RPG maker engine. This is perhaps the best “personality test” type game I’ve ever played. Give it a whirl, who knows, you could be gifted and not even know it. Personally, my result was uncannily spot-on, and it did open my eyes a bit to a couple of things. The Test isn’t necessarily a game, so much as it is a tool that can be used to validate what you may already know about yourself, or discover the ways that others may perceive you. Truly, that’s the whole purpose here, to discover your own beautiful and horrific truths, and to be judged accordingly. It’s also best to be completely honest in your answers, as doing so makes you really search within yourself if you take things seriously. While setting aside about half an hour for completion. It’s best to go into this title both without expecting anything and totally alone In fact, the entire point here is to participate in self-reflection and really give thought to how you answer the questions. That said, The Test takes it a step further by really digging its claws into your psyche by asking the tough-to-answer questions that most people don’t really want to answer. After decades of being in play, the a good quality test has been proven to be a timeless piece of entertainment, and we’ve all participated in one at some time or another. Hell, pre-dating the age of the internet, these types of tests littered magazine pages. Since the dawn of the internet, there have been all kinds of tests and quizzes related to personality type, what your favorite ice cream flavor is, who your future girlfriend or boyfriend will be, the type of house you’ll end up living in… the list goes on and on.
